MOAS:
We have a schedule for summer FP classes. A FB page has been created for the University of Loch Salann. Our new Champion of Art and Sciences is HE Anna de Brabant. Our Youth Champion is Aleah de Spencer. Plans for an A&S Bear Pit at Barons’ War continue to evolve. We are hoping to bid for Kingdom Collegium/A&S. VOLUNTEERS FOR CLASSES AND OTHER ACTIVITIES ARE NEEDED!!! Reminder: I will be stepping down in December. Please contact me if you are interested in becoming MOAS at [email protected]. I intend to train anyone well for taking on this very important role.
Needleworker’s Guild:
Needleworkers Guild is moving forward with needlecases for largesse.
Knight Marshall:
Fighter practice continues to be held. We have moved outside at the Viridian Event Center, 8030 S 1825 W West Jordan, UT 84088.
Rapier:
We have moved outside at the Veridian Center. We are on the east side of the park. It’s cold, so bring something warm to wear.
Archery:
Practice continues to be held from 6 to 8 every Thursday at Salt Lake Archery in Sugarhouse, 1130 Wilmington Ave. We won’t move outside until it is warmer.
Updates on ongoing Baronial Business:
- ALERT: Possibilities for a winter site continue to be explored, but more are needed. Please continue to give your ideas for a new location to the Knight Marshall, [email protected]. The intent is for practice to continue to be held on Tuesday evenings.
- Concurrent with Fighter Practice, classes continue to be held that will help individuals meet the criteria for joining the Order of the Flower of Chivalry. See the Files section of the Barony of Loch Salann Facebook page for details.
- OPEN/OPENING OFFICER POSITIONS: Youth Officer Deputy who will step up to the Youth Officer position, Youth Combat Marshall, MOAS.
Updates on Events and Demos in the Planning Stages:
- Get Melee Madness on your calendar for June 3 and 4. We’ll be gathering at our traditional site, The Castle at the Utah State Hospital. See Kingdom and Baronial websites for details.
- Baron’s War planning continues and official announcements/postings should occur soon as all paperwork has been submitted. Reserve Friday, August 4th through Sunday, August 6th, 2017 for camping with your SCA family. (If you want to help set up you can get on site on Thursday evening August 3rd … hint, hint.)
Other Business
The Utah Renaissance Faire has approached us about putting on two Feasts, one on Friday night, one on Saturday, for paying customers. There are many issues involved in this, including significant logistical challenges. At this time, we will not be undertaking this as a Barony, as it is not consistent with our role as a branch of the SCE. This could be an opportunity undertaken by a Household.

Any member of the populace is welcome to attend the monthly Forum, which is held at 7 pm on the second Wednesday of the month, at Their Excellencies, 13575 S 1300 E, Draper. Next Forum will be April 12, 2017.
