A Populace Meeting is now being planned for August 30, 2017. This will be held at TEs’ estate, 13575 S 1300 E, Draper, at 7:00 pm.
Martial Arts (Heavy, Rapier, Archery, Thrown Weapons):
All groups are very active and attracting interest from the community. Archery has an established location for winter practices and Thrown Weapons will be suspended until outside practice is again possible. Heavy and Rapier will be restricted to once a month at their previous winter location (Viridian Center) unless some place is located that will permit more frequent assembly. Numerous locations have been contact, however no suitable site has been found. Please continue to give your ideas for a new location to the Knight Marshall, kmarshal@loch-salann.org. Lawrence Bacon is now our Rapier Marshal, with Ulrich Von Grimme serving as his deputy.
MOAS:
Classes and Guild activities have continued throughout the summer. HL Maysun Nura al-Ishfahani al-Samarkandiyya will be stepping up as MOAS at Solstice Court.
Chronicler:
The most recent edition of the Questing Quill is now available.
Chatelaine:
HE Owna has stepped down from this office effective July 2017. Her deputy will continue to serve, however we are looking for someone to step up. The Chatelaine is responsible for providing support to newcomers as well for coordinating demos and related events.
Youth Office:
This and the deputy position are both open. The Barony has a great many supplies available for a variety of activities. The Youth Officer is responsible for coordinating activities for our youth at Baronial events.
Updates on ongoing Baronial Business:
- We are on the way to having a Youth Combat Marshal.
Updates on Events and Demos in the Planning Stages:
- Utah Renaissance Fair at Thanksgiving Point: August 25 and 26, 2017. Anyone wearing costume/garb will receive a $2 discount from their general admission ticket (this cannot be combined with any other discount offer). The Barony will be present doing a demonstration. Volunteers should contact HE Baron Aeylwin at [email protected]
- Kingdom A&S/Collegium planning is moving forward, with a formal announcement to be published in the Sage Advice in September. An official FB page will be set up as well. We will be gathering at St. Margaret’s Catholic School in Tooele. If you want to teach a class, please contact [email protected]. NOTE: we have a special opportunity for some classes that we don’t usually have as we will have access to a science lab.
- Solstice Court: we have yet to secure a site, but have several options. Hopefully, this will be resolved by the end of August, as our submission is due then.
- Defender’s: Her Grace, Duchess Nisa, will be the autocrat for this event. We are scheduled with St. James Church on March 10 2018.
Other Business
The Charter for the University of Loch Salann is being finalized. Degrees that will be awarded are: Socius licentia (Member in licentia), Baccalaureate, Magister and Doctorate. Requirements in each will be specified in the Charter. Graduation and the Awarding of Degrees will take place at a Baronial event as the Baron and Baroness desire. Classes at the University contribute to the requirements outlined for the Order of the Flower or Chivalry.

Any member of the populace is welcome to attend the monthly Forum, which is held at 7 pm on the second Wednesday of the month, at Their Excellencies, 13575 S 1300 E, Draper. Next Forum will be September 13, 2017.
