Chronicler:
The Questing Quill has been published. I (Seneschal) strongly encourage the populace to make use of this incredible source of information and news. The latest issue is about garb, which has wonderful pictures and articles with instructions. In addition, it provides most of the news included in this report, but in much more detail, as well as much more.
Martial Arts (Heavy, Rapier, Archery, Thrown Weapons:
Heavy Practices are currently being held at our winter site at Veterans Memorial Park (8030 S 1825 W West Jordan, UT 84088) on the third Tuesday of each month AND at the UFC Gym (7653 700 E, Midvale, UT 84047) on Fridays except for the Veridian Tuesday practices.
A total of 17 fighters participated this month. Don’t forget loaner equipment is available. This includes 5 Helms, 2 full kits, 2 shields and2 swords. There were no Demos, events, incidents or injuries. Fighters are needed for Zoolights on December 2nd both to fight and run the equipment display.
Seventeen rapier fighters attended weekly practices. No authorizations were performed. There were no accidents or injuries and no experimental weapons, armor, or practices were approved by the Kingdom Marshall. New winter locations seem to be working very well. We have several newer rapier fighters sticking around, so hopefully, we’ll see more authorizations shortly!
Archery is meeting at its winter location in Sugarhouse. When spring comes our archers will be formidable.
Rapier fighters and archers are also needed for Zoolights. The former to fight and run a display, the latter to run a display. You should show up around 4 with the gates opening at 5:30. See the FB page for more information.
MOAS:
The Needleworker’s Guild continues to go strong. A number of largesse projects are moving forward that should have the Barony smelling much better. TheUniversity of Loch Salann had a children’s class on the medieval history of Halloween. November’s class will be about Viking wire weaving on 11/29/17. The University’s FB page has a link where you can record the classes you attend. In case you need reminding: Kingdom Arts and Sciences, combined with Collegium, will be held on November 18th. See the Questing Quill and our website for more information. Also, the Quill has a wealth of information about other guilds that are meeting around the Barony.
Chatelaine:
HELP! We have a number of important Demos and other activities that are being arranged where the assistance of this office would be very valuable. If you are interested (or have someone you think would be good in this office) please contact me or Their Excellencies via Baronial email on our website. We’d like to talk to you as well if you want to consider just one aspect of the office, such as loaner garb or coordinating Demos.
Youth Officer:
Ta-Da!! We have a Youth Officer: Don Turi MacCarthy has graciously agreed to step up. Please offer him welcome and assistance as he works to make the Barony a wonderful and fun place for our children.
Herald:
Several submissions are in the process of consulting with at least 3 complete and going to Kingdom later this month. A schedule is being put together of events or times consultation tables can be set up.
Other Business:
As always, the official Baronial web page and the various unofficial FB pages are additional sources of information regarding the activities of the Barony.
Any member of the populace is welcome to attend the monthly Forum, which is held at 7 pm on the second Wednesday of the month, at Their Excellencies, 13575 S 1300 E, Draper. Next Forum will be October 11, 2017.
Yours in Service,
Luveday de Salford – Seneschal
