Her Excellency, Baroness Amanda, requested we all consider those in the Barony who may be unwilling to put themselves forward for an office but would be very capable of serving.
We have not been able to locate a suitable site for Fighter Practice. Several options have been explored, none ideal. Here are several. The Veridian Center once a month. A fitness gym setting, but only available on Fridays from 8 to 10 pm. The Province of Arrows Flight has extended a welcome to use of the same facility they have. It has classrooms that would be available for use as well. It is located in Provo. We could hold Heavy and Rapier at separate sites, maybe even on different nights. Find an outdoor site and learn why wars were not fought in the winter. The general consensus was having FP weekly is crucial to the health of our program
Re-conception of what we do for Demos. Discussion was held about sponsoring a few demos a year that we handle as if they were events. An example is Zoolights. We plan this months in advance, arrange for specific activities that cover the range of what we offer and ask members to be available to answer questions and demonstrate what we do. We would consider what our goals would be: informational displays, theatrical showpieces, interactive activities. We would arrange to have each area covered by someone who could answer questions and give explanations. To do this we would have to have buy in from volunteers well in advance and the type of planning we do for an event (except for the budget and event bid aspects)
Kingdom Camping Event: we discussed whether we would modify next year’s Barons’ War to be this event instead. The dates would be the same and the location. The theme would change and our profits from the event would be split with Kingdom. This would be just for 2018. Essentially we would make a formal bid to the Kingdom for the KCE instead of arranging Barons’ War as a standalone Baronial event. This would require an Event Steward who would work closely with Kingdom.
Sales Tax: We will now be paying sales tax to the Emperor on site fees, feast fees and fundraiser activities. This means an increased equivalent to about 6% of the total price.
Teachers are still needed for A&S/Collegium. The MOAS would like to have a somewhat lighter schedule for about two hours in the early afternoon so that judges are available. We have a great site with options for types of classes we may not usually be able to hold, e.g. cooking classes.
Concerns about the Baronial website were raised. It isn’t kept current and FB pages do no always link to the BLS webpage. I will investigate this and do what I can to keep us current.
