Unto the Most Ancient Barony of Loch Salann do We, Æylwin and Amanda, send greetings!
The war season is upon us!! Ready your weapons and gear to accept the challenge of going to war this year! Remember to stay safe and hydrated out there, especially if you are not used to the demands of the hot, summer sun. Use sunscreen!! Help one another to best enjoy the summer activities by staying healthy and hydrated! Stay tuned as we coordinate summer classes for fighter practice and plan for upcoming events this summer, such as Artemisian Twentieth Year and Barons’ War!
This past month we were able to attend Castle Crusades, Quest, and a number of local activities, such as fighter practice and archery practice. Many guilds are in the full swing of activities, from the brewers, needle workers, musicians, and more. Check out the baronial webpage for more details and reach out to each guild master for more details on meeting times and locations! As Uprising, 20 year, and other summer engagements come along, stay tuned for travel/ carpool opportunities and to get more information on each even by visiting the Facebook pages for each event, in addition to the formal announcements on the baronial and kingdom pages. Stay tuned for more details as we plan for low-key, fun in the spirit of the early days of the SCA. Bring your ideas for revels and picnics and look to our households for leadership! Many activities are being planned now!
Mistress Owna’s warrant for Chatelaine is coming up this January, so please consider helping us by taking the reigns to help recruit newcomers and plan community outreach and demos! We are also currently looking for a Youth Combat Marshal and many offices seek deputies, so please come and learn more about how the Barony operates by serving one of these vital roles! It’s a perfect way to make new friends and help plan for the success of us all!
Speaking of Youth activities, including youth combat, we are putting out a general call to arms/ service for any and all parents and gentles interested in working with our youth: We have a need for many warranted (background check via the SCA) individuals to help all baronies, provinces, and shires to hold children’s activities. Please get in contact with Her Excellency Amanda or His Excellency Æylwin and our Youth Minister, Lady Arianna, so we may walk you through the process and get our children’s activities back into full swing. Don’t be intimidated by the background check process; we will help you through it! It is well worth the effort to validate families and help us retain our members. Without the youth of this great Kingdom and Barony, our future is dim, indeed!
Demo opportunity: Thank you in advance, to all who are able to support the Utah Ren Faire in Thanksgiving Pointe during the last weekend in August. We have a great relationship building with their coordinators and have the opportunity to share our passion and skill for history with other recreation groups, such as the Utah Vikings and others! See HE Owna for more details!
So, come and bring a friend, bring two! Come share with us the Dream in what is now our 52nd Anno Societatus!
Stay medieval, my friends!
